What happens during treatment

Initial Consultation
During the initial consultation, a detailed case history will be taken, which covers lifestyle and diet, medical history and current ailments and problems. This normally takes about 30 minutes. The information will be used to formulate a treatment plan specifically tailored to each patient. You may then be able to experience a short treatment. Your first treatment will be shorter than subsequent treatments.

Subsequent treatments will last approximately 45 minutes.

What happens during treatment?
Very fine needles are inserted at key locations on the body to regulate the flow of energy. You may feel a mild ache or tingling sensation when the needles are inserted. They will be left in place for about twenty minutes while you relax in the treatment room.

What can I expect to feel?
Most patients feel relaxed during and after acupuncture treatment. Many sleep very well the night after their session and some experience better energy for a few days after. You could feel a bit tired after your first treatment but this will pass in a day or so and is a sign of your body responding to the movement of energy.

How many treatments will I need?
This will vary from patient to patient depending upon the severity of your condition, age, etc. At the end of the initial consultation, the treatment plan will be discussed and an estimate of the number of treatments will be given. Your treatment will then be reviewed regularly by you and your acupuncturist.
